Covid -19 and how it affects driving lessons

For all our sakes we need to take precautions. Driving lessons are high risk. We canít social distance and we will be close for 2 hrs which goes against all government guidelines. What concerns me about this virus is that people can have it and not be aware and show no symptoms yet carry it and pass it on.

.....A few questions to answer before our lesson

Have you any symptoms of covid-19?
A high temperature?
A new continuous cough?
A loss of taste or smell?
Are you in contact with a vulnerable person that is shielding?
Have you or suspect you have been in contact with anyone that has had Covid-19 in the last 14 days?

The usual 48hr notice for lesson cancellation for any of the above does not apply, we canít take any chances

Please make sure you wash your hands just prior to your lesson appointment and please make me aware of any allergies you may have regarding PPE that MUST be worn. I will be wearing a mask and ensuring I wash my hands and take care of the car as far as all the cleaning is concerned.

I will check your temperature with a non contact infrared thermometer before entering the car.

I will have hand sanitiser for you to use.

I will supply a surgical quality face mask or you can use your own if you prefer.

There will be plastic disposable seat covers fitted and the car will be cleaned before changes of driver.

There may be cleaning during the lesson for example if I touch the steering wheel or gearstick etc.

The car will be fitted with wind / rain deflectors on the windows which means we can drive with the windows down with reduced wind noise and hopefully wonít get wet if it rains!

During the lesson we should look directly ahead when talking and doing lesson briefings. That might seem strange and difficult to get used to!
